Abstract
The structural properties of [Re(C5H5N)(C 10H8N2)( CO)3](CF3O 3S) were investigated. The compound was prepared as a standard molecule for comparison with the properties of other heterocyclic tricarbonylrhenium (I) complexes containing pyridine as the sixth ligand. The compound was prepared by dissolving Re(CO)5Cl and 2,2'-bipyridine in ethanol and heated at reflux under Ar. The cations shows a distorted octaheral geometry defined by three N donors and three carbonyl ligands that are arranged so that a fac-isomer is formed.
