Abstract
The complex oxidation processes taking place in the combustion of hydrogen peroxide can be demonstrated by a simple experiment. The hydrogen peroxide is contained by playing a hydrogen flame across an ice cube. The test consists of a glass pipet, hemostat and tests tubes. Both potassium permanganate and potassium iodide tests were conducted. A slurry of potato starch was made, heated and removed from heat. A K1 solution was made, hydrogen was obtained from a compressed cylinder while the hemostat was removed. The hydrogen resulting from the pipet is ignited while the flame is played against the ice chip.
