Abstract
A call for a critical perspective on the use of computers in composition makes the claim that computers are not simple additions to the writing classroom, they are the inception of a transformational revolution. The computer's ability to display more than just text on the screen is an indication of the sort of hybrid between text, graphics, sound, & videos that can be expected of future compositions. To represent this possible future, the metaphor of a collage is suggested to explain multimedia writing just around the corner. Teaching the new capabilities under the collage metaphor is demonstrated & recommended. 13 References. G. Colls
