Abstract
Cervical cancer screening has become more defined with the introduction of human papillomavirus (HPV) testing and related trials. However, thus far the implementation of the HPV vaccine has not affected screening recommendations. As the understanding of the biology of HPV infection and precancerous disease improves, these recommendations may undergo further revisions, with the goal of improving the prevention of cervical cancer while reducing the stress and anxiety that women endure by frequent Pap tests and colposcopic exams. Here, Chase et al highlight several revised guidelines for cervical cancer screening.
