Abstract
The 35th anniversary of the River City Mixed Chorus coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising in NYC in 1969, leading to wonderful mission-based programming. The first half of the concert was a multi-movement commissioned piece about the uprising and its long-term impact on the LGBTQ+ movement, Quiet No More, by composers such as Shaieb, Our Lady J, Hornik, Callaway, and others, while the second half featured America’s popular song themed around artists important to the movement, accompanied by instrumental combo and choreography.
