Abstract
The publication of Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code created immense popular interest in Mary Magdalene, long thought to be a repentant prostitute. At the invitation of The New Freeman, a newspaper in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, Dr. Calef was asked to clarify the accuracy of both the traditional (mis)understanding of her as repentant prostitute and Dan Brown's claim - that she was the wife of Jesus.
