Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of assistive technologies on occupational independence for children with disabilities. Assistive technology can be used in occupational therapy with children with disabilities to increase the child's participation and occupational independence in everyday activities and roles. Children’s participation in school, overall development, social participation, and daily activities can be enhanced with the use of beneficial assistive technologies. Assistive technologies can be effective for increasing accessibility and performance with daily tasks. These technologies can involve virtual gaming, neurologic music therapy, tablet computers, and robot assistive hand therapy. Significant results were found in the effectiveness of these technologies for improving the ability for children with disabilities to perform functional daily activities more independently.
