Abstract
As many of us know, Google and Google Scholar use a highly sophisticated algorithm to retrieve results from keyword searches. But what about when you need to retrieve results with more precision than a keyword search can provide? Behind the tidy search box, Google integrates a number of tools you can utilize to refine your results as you search. In this workshop, we will dive into the use of some of the codes, filters, and operators that help enhance the Google search algorithm for academic or scholarly searches.
By the end of this presentation, learners will be able to:
• Utilize more standardized database tools such as Boolean operators, as well as date, author, and title searches
• Connect your Google Scholar search results to Creighton University Libraries
• Track citations of your own or related research
• Create Google Scholar alerts along search strings
