Expertise

Steven Fernandes is an Associate Professor of Computer Science, teaching and mentoring students in computer science, data science, and health informatics. His research focuses on developing advanced deep learning models for computer vision, natural language processing, and medical imaging applications. Prior to joining Creighton, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Central Florida in the Department of Computer Science, contributing to projects funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), National Science Foundation (NSF), and Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). Before that, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, working on National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded projects in deep learning and medical image processing.
